This Spring

In the Spring I'll be student teaching in a classroom at George Washington Elementary School. It will be an interesting change for me. I'll be mostly working with 7th and 8th grade students doing writing remediation. I'm excited and intimidated by the challenge. I have been told that I'd be right at home as a Middle School teacher for some time but I'm not sure. We'll see though. January is a long ways away.

This Fall

This Fall I will be student teaching at Independence Charter School at 17th street and Lombard street in Philadelphia. I'll be in a 3rd grade classroom with a former Penn student. I'm excited by the prospect of seeing another model for charter schools, classroom set up and classroom management. I've found out I'll be using the Investigations math curriculum, which excites me. Having spent time with it at NOCCS I've found I really enjoy the hands-on approach to math concepts.

I'll also be immersed in my schoolwork - balancing these two will be a challenge and it will be fun.
